Ruminations

What a day!!! snorkelling in Eilat...ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
Little points: Lest you think everything has been hunky dory, we have had our fair share of sightseeing from round-abouts or rotaries as they are sometimes called. Around and around we'd go until clarity of direction surfaced. Even our GPS we named Avishay hasn't always been helpful as well as directions given by passer-bys.
Particularly frustrating was trying to see the Ba'hai Gardens in Haifa and the more sacred Shrine, home, and gardens of Bahaula north of Haifa. The gardens in Haifa were closed when supposedly open (but we did finally get into the domed building) and the Shrine to Bahaula was closed when supposedly open.
It's been good we (not Steve) take turns being frustrated and philosophical about it. We can count on Steve to be easy-going, and Janet is so good at seeing through the BS.

Learning to function and just -be- "on Israeli time" has been a good experience: kind of a slow down, "be here now" attitude.

I've found it surprising to find The Rebbe's picture (Rabbi Schneerson of blessed memory) all over Israel and in unusual places--clearly beloved.

  1. Hi Gang;
    Trying not to be envious-snorkeling in Eliat is pushing me! Can't wait to hear more of details and see more pictures-but the writing while 'in the moment' is precious-it will be hard to re-capture all of that feeling-so, glad you were able to find a few minutes to put it down and share with us. Debra and Jerry---you both write beautifully.
    All is well here-except Mom Hellman having a cold and us having to cancel our little plans for yesterday-plan is to do something special with them if she feels better today. The amount of rain we're getting is stupendous-ahhhh-no control-too much or too little. Much love to all of you-and, I really look forward to picking yall up at airport on Wednesday evening...(only kidding-I know it's Tues evening). Call me from Newark if you get a chance. Much love to all. Sharon
